     Andrew was a taylor by trade which he learned from his father. It is believed that at around the Age of 21, he and a cousin deserted the german army hidden in a coal pile of a ship and came to St. Louis, MO.
His grandchildren remember that Andrew wore wooden shoes for house slippers. Andrew was very short with a long geard. He also had a very large and successful tailoring business in downtown Paris, IL with 16 employees. All of the sons became taylors.
Andrew was a devout Catholic and was well known in the community. Andrew was born in 1852 at Hanover, Germany. He married Johanna Howe on 25 May 1880 at St. Mary's Ch., Paris, Edgar Co., IL. His body was interred in January 1923 at St Mary's Cemetery at Paris, Edgar Co., IL. Andrew died in January 1923 at Paris, Edgar Co., IL. 10:50 pm.

     Her body was interred at Paris, Edgar Co., IL. All that was remembered by the children of Francis Bruns is that Anna lived in Frankfort, IN in 1965. She was a very tall & pretty woman. She married (?) Stokesberry. Anna was born on 20 July 1884. Anna died on 8 June 1968 at age 83.

     She resided. Bernadine was born on 7 June 1928 at Danville, Vermilion Cty, IL. She married James Louis Helbling on 20 June 1947 at Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL.

     As a child, Bernard didn't attend school regularly and kept selling his school books so his parents decided to send him to a trade school at a Danville tire Company.

Bernard worked as a vulcanizer at Danville Tire Company at the time of his marrage. They moved to Champaign in 1929 where he worked for the Sam ________ tire Shop. Later he purchased a DX Gas Station on Washington street and operated a tire and service station utill 1948 when they moved to Phinox, AZ.
In Phinox, Bernard ran a gas station. In 1958, they moved to Tucson and Bernard worked for Goodyear tire. A car accident occured in 1967 where Bernard and Mildred were seriously injured. Shortly after that, Bernard retired and they moved to Rosevelt, AZ.
An avid golfer, Bernard once shot a hole in one during the Twin City open but didn't get to see the shot as he was called away on an emergency just as he teed off.

After Bernard Died, Mildred moved back to Urbana, IL where she was active in the Park District Senior Citizen Programs. Bernard was born on 7 March 1910 at Lerna Hotel (home) at Lerna, Edgar Co., IL. He married Mildred Marie Colberg on 9 October 1927 at Attica, Unknown Co., IN. The marriage was conducted after Church Services.. Bernard died on 4 December 1973 at Globe, Unknown Co., AZ, at age 63. His body was interred after 4 December 1973 at Pinal Cemetery, at Elks Lodge Plot at Central Heights, Unknown Co., AZ.

     "Francie" was a taylor by trade which he learned from his father Andrew. As a child, he broke his thimble finger playing baseball and never told his dad as Andrew didn't approve of sports. Francis went to Catholic Grade and High School.
When he was married, he built a house next to his parents but his father never gave him the deed to the house. After his fathers death, he moved to Chirstman and worked in a taylor shop but Joanna moved to Lerna to have their first baby. Later they moved to Mattoon for a short time. They then moved to Overton Street in Tuscola, IL where he worked for Mr Schonle, a taylor on Main St.
In November of 1915, Villa Grove became their new home and Francis worked in Van Heedin's mens clothing store.
During the flu epidemic in November of 1918, the family lived for a few months in Lerna, presumably at the Hotel.
In August of 1921, Danville became home and Francie worked for Mike Platt. Later, he opened a business with Lewis Azzoff in the Lincoln Hotel on the square known as Bruns & Azzoff.
In 19__, at the age of 3, Geneva was
kidnapped but found in a church coal chute a few hours later.
All but Esther moved to Champaign in March of 1929. (Esther lived with Dorothy Edwards until June when school was out) Francie worked for Joseph Kuhns & Co. in Champaign for 32 years (1927 - 1954).
Every pay day, he would bring home a bag of candy for the family.
Francie retired at the age of 75 but kept a shop in his basement.
A 'Die Hard' Chicago Cubs fan, Francie listened to the game whenever he could starting with the local broadcasts by ticker tape. He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker. Bernard was born on 22 January 1881 at Paris, Edgar Co., IL. He married Joanna Royer on 14 April 1909 at St. Mary's Church at Paris, Edgar Co., IL. Bernard moved in March 1929 to. Bernard died on 6 April 1965 at home, 303 W. Maple, at Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, at age 84. 12:00 midnight.. His body was interred circa 9 April 1965 at Woodlawn Cemetery at Calvary Section.

     Charles was born on 27 April 1919 at home at Villa Grove, Champaign Cty, IL. As a baby, his bright yellow curley hair got him the nickname "Chickie" which was later shortened to Chick and stayed with him throughout his life.. He in 1921 was a student at Grant School, Danville, Vermilion Cty, IL, for grades 1-3. He was employed circa 1929 by News Gazette, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, as a paper boy from age 10 till he entered the 9th Grade, at one point he had 2 routes delivering over 200 papers daily. He in September 1929 was a student at Holy Cross School, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, for grades 4-8 where he served as an alter boy and had to learn latin from the nuns. He was enrolled in September 1934 at at Champaign High School, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, where he played basketball, baseball, track. As a part time job on weekends, he ran the swithboard for the News Gazette. He graduated in May 1938 at Champaign Central High School, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL. Before the war, Chick played in the Corn Belt and EI (Eastern Illinois) baseball league where he had a 2 week tryout for the Chicago Cubs. He was employed in June 1938 by Joseph Kuhns & Co., Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, as for 2 years. He began military service on 31 July 1941 at Army, Chicago, Cook Cty, IL, Volunteered with the idea to get his year over, took his basic training at Fort Lenard Wood, MO. He served as an Engineer for the 3rd Division, 10th Engineer Battalion, A company throughout WWII and was active during the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Germany. He ended military service on 15 August 1945 at Chicago, Cook Cty, IL, at the rank of Technical Sargent. He was employed after 15 August 1945 by News Gazette, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, as typesetter. He also served for 35 years as the Secretary/Treasure for the local 444 International Typographical Union. He married Rita Marie Fleshner on 10 January 1946 at St. Mary's Church at Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL. Charles Francis Bruns and Rita Marie Fleshner were Catholic and members of Holy Cross Catholic Church where chick served as an usher for over 20 years. Charles Francis Bruns and Rita Marie Fleshner lived in September 1950 at at 915 W. William, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, which they had built. Charles Francis Bruns and Rita Marie Fleshner lived in September 1958 at at 506 W. Springfield, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL. Chick served as a cub scount and boy scout leader, and enjoyed hunting and golfing with his sons while they lived at home. Charles Francis Bruns was retired in May 1984 at News Gazette, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL; after 39 years. His job had changed from working with metal line-o-type to cut and paste layout. He married Alice Marian Edgar on 13 January 1999 at Scottsdale, Maricopa, AZ, by Father Brunsman who blessed their union at the home they were renting on Chaparell Ave. in Winfield Village. Charles Francis Bruns and Alice Marian Edgar lived in May 2000 at at 405 W University, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL, and spent winters in Scottsdale, AZ. Chick was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus since 1945. Life Member of the VFW #5520. Life Member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) # ???. Played golf beginning in High School on sand greens and continued his entire life.

     Charles was employed at as a Carpenter. He resided. Charles was born on 1 November 1948 at Covenant (Mercy) Hospital at Urbana, Champaign Cty, IL. He married Patrica Kathryn Haley on 24 November 1972 at at Wesley United Methodist Church.

     Esther was born on 29 June 1912 at Mattoon, Coles, IL. She between 1918 and 1921 was a student at Villa Grove, Champaign Cty, IL. She lived in 1921 at at Danville, Vermilion Cty, IL. She attended in 1921 at Danville, Vermilion Cty, IL, Through Soph. year of High School. She lived in 1930 at at 303 W Maple, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL. She graduated in May 1930 at Champaign Central High School, Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL. She attended between 1930 and 1931 at University of Illinois, Urbana, Champaign Cty, IL. As of 31 October 1931,her married name was Croft. She married Harry Edward Croft on 31 October 1931 at Holy Cross Church at Champaign, Champaign Cty, IL. Esther Johanna Bruns lived between 1932 and 1933 at at Paxton, Ford Cty, IL. She lived in 1933 at at Chicago, Cook Cty, IL. She was employed between 1935 and 1940 by F.W. Woolworth as buyer and sales. She was employed between 1947 and 1961 by Polk Bros. and George Eberhardt's as record buyer. In a conversation with Esther, she shared the following. Esther attended the St. Mel Catholic Church, Chicago which was know as the largest parish in the U.S. She joined the St. Joseph the Worker Chruch in 1978 where she was active in Bible Classes, Ministry of Care and Ministry of Praise. Esther also volunteered at the Villa Addorata Nursing Home.

Reading was always her greatest hobby but was taught crocheting in her later life which she also enjoyed. She also enjoyed her travels abroad. In 1964, she and her daughter Linda visited Italy and France. While in Rome, they toured the Vatican and had an audience with Pope Paul VI. Later, in 1972, Esther, Harry Sr., Linda and David went to the Orient; Bangkok & Hong Kong. She also had several trips to Hawaii.

She remembered teaching at Our Lady's the day of the 1968 riots. Since this was a black area, her principal (a providence Nun) drove the other white teachers home with two black seniors from St. Phillips High school for protection. She still remembered seeing U.S. Army tanks rolling down Madison St. near Cicero Ave. Also, during the great snow of 1967, it took her six hours to get home, a distance of 35 blocks which she walked about half.

Esther & Harry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983. She died on 2 July 2008 at Albuquerque, Bernallio, NM, at age 96. She was buried on 7 August 2008 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Urbana, Champaign, IL; Memorial Mass At St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Palatine, IL.

     She resided. Geneva had no name on her birth certificate and was called Mary Elizabeth for the first three months. Then they decided to call her Geneva Mary.

He graduated in January 1976 at Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL, with a BS|Recreation & Park Administration degree in John served as President of the Illinois Park and Recreation Society, Student Branch from 1974-75. He also recieved the National Distiguished Student award from the National Student Park and Recreation Association. He was employed in February 1976 as His first full time position was with the West Chicago Park District as Superintendent of Recreation from 1976 to 1978. He then worked in the same capacity for the Geneva Park District from Sept/1978 to April/1982. He was employed in April 1982 by Fountain Creek Township, Iroquois Cty, IL, as a farmer with Lucinda's father. He and Lucinda Sue Nolin lived in April 1982 at at Claytonville, Iroquois Cty, IL, brick home on the south end of town. John Fleshner Bruns was elected to the Cissna Park Community Unit #6 school board where he served for 20 years. He served as President the last 6 years of his tenure. In addition, he also served as Chairman of the Illinois School Board Corn Belt Division for 4 years. in November 1982. He owned in 1983 and served as a manufactures representative for a number of farm software copmanies including Red Wing Business Systems of Red Wing, MN. In 1986, he became the Executive Director for the Association of Agricultural Computing Companies, a national trade associaion and remained in that position until Jan, 1995. at Prairieland, Inc.. He resided on the homestead that was settled by cindy's great uncle which served as the "Semely" Post Office., at 1743 E 500 N Rd, Fountain Creek Twp., Iroquois Cty, IL, after November 1984. He was Widowed when his wife Lucinda died from cancer. in April 1988. He married Suzanne Marie Crider on 8 January 1989 at the United Methodist Church at St. Joseph, Champaign Cty, IL. John, as Suzanne Marie Crider's husband, resided with Suzanne, at 1743 E 500 N Rd, Cissna Park, Iroquois Cty, IL, on 21 January 1989. In October 1993, John Fleshner Bruns and Suzanne Marie Bruns owned at Prairieland Quilts In 1999, the business expanded to the Internet with QuiltersWarehouse.com. Then in 2004, purchased a new building to expand the business. John Fleshner Bruns was John organized the Cissna Park Education Foundation to provide scholarships to graduating students. The 1st scholarship given was in memory of his daughter Cassandra to what would have been her graduating class. in May 2000. John volunteered with the local Jaycees for a few years. He was also involved with the Cissna Park Economic Development Board in creating a subdivision in NW Cissna Park.
He attended the Cissna Park United Methodist Church where he served on many church committees and taught Sr. High Sunday School for 6 years. John has always enjoyed Golf, Camping, Wood Carving, wood working Photography and was also an amateur Square Dance Caller. He and Suzanne also raised Miniature Horses.

     Josephine was born. She married 'Hal' Metcalf. Josephine died on 13 March 1973.

     Justin was born on 29 September 1986 at Mercy (Covenant) Hospital at Urbana, Champaign Cty, IL. He resided, at 1743 E 500 N Rd, Cissna Park, Iroquois Cty, IL, after October 1986. Justin attended at Cissna Park Grade School, Cissna Park, Iroquois Cty, IL, for grades K through 5th. Justin attended at Cissna Park Jr. High, Cissna Park, Iroquois Cty, IL, for grades 6th - 8th. He served as Jr. High Basketball team manager.. Justin attended at Cissna Park High School, Cissna Park, Iroquois Cty, IL, for grades 9 thru 12. Justin Played on the Golf team where he lettered and placed 3rd in the Regionals his Sr. year; played in the school Jazz Band; served as HS Basketball manager; and was a member of Boy Scout Troup 157 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout.. He graduated in May 2005 at Cissna Park High School, Cissna Park, Iroquois Cty, IL. He attended on 29 August 2005 at Ferris State University, Big Rapids, MI, with a major in Professional Golf Management.
