See’Ya Next Year
It’s hard to wrap my head around the concept of someone saying “See’Ya Next year” when we are only two weeks into this year. So now I’m planning for 2027? Well, it happened to Suzanne this week.
I’m still trying to plan out this year, and it’s a busy one. A cruise this winter, a sightseeing trip to Germany with a chance to visit family, and of course, our annual Vegas adventure to the NFR. Hotels, tickets, airlines . . . I have no room to plan for 2027. But Suzanne couldn’t be happier. The fact that she gets to wait over a year to see everyone again just made her day.
There was a time she saw them daily, then went to weekly, then bi-weekly, monthly, and then bi-monthly. More recently, every six months has been the norm, but as of this week, an annual visit with her medical team at Rush Medical Center is all they are asking.
You see, it’s been five years since her life-saving and life-altering surgery. Four years since her clinical trial, which is partially credited for her survival. Two years since her lung lobectomy, which is the only fly in the ointment and the only area protocol requires future attention.
Her next visit to see her oncologist, radiologist, and surgeon is in April 2027. Why April? I requested a warmer time to go to Chicago than it was this week.
So if you run into Suzanne anytime soon, you’ll see a happy gal who knows the man upstairs has had her back through all this and still does.
Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year . . .
