Moving Day

Moving Day

Remember how thrilled you were when you packed your car to head off to college? Or the excitement you felt when you and your new wife moved from that one-bedroom apartment to a spacious 3 room flat? Or the joy of finally moving into your first house? That’s not the feeling we had today.

Moving day is an emotional experience. Usually, it’s a day that you look forward to, new surroundings, new experiences. This move for us does bring new surroundings; a small apartment, road-noise, confined urban setting, lots of people we do not know. It also brings us new experiences: walking blocks to appointments; local grocery store with boarded-up windows, parking lot 2 blocks away, sitting for hours during treatments, waiting for hours for the next day to arrive.

At home, there is always plenty to do. At our new place, we have tried to anticipate how we will pass the time; putting a puzzle together, Suzanne busily sewing while I write in this blog, well we hope to come up with some more, hopefully soon. Suzanne is really concerned that I’ll be just a caged animal pacing the floor.

We now have a new address for the next 7 weeks. Feel free to send cards & letters to Suzanne at:

Our hope is that our next moving day on October 16th will be an exciting and joyful day!

Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.
Psalm 91:9-10

  1. My prayer is that you will come to understand that this moving day is an important start of this journey of recovery! I pray for strength and patience for both of you. One thing I have always admired about you two is that you play so well together. So just keep being supportive and loving and this time will go fast!

  2. Thank you for letting us know of your safe arrival & hopefully got everything in before dark, which I’m sure was an important goal! Thanks also for your address …glad u can receive mail there. Sounds like a great arrangement-hope they have a shuttle service to hospital can suggest travel. (Personal experience-don’t leave your car in same place for more than 2 days).
Get a good night’s rest knowing Many are keeping you in their prayers including Earl & I & our Families & our Church.

  3. I’m praying for you both. Prayers for peace, for healing, and for finding the good things in each day.

  4. I’m impressed with all the Bible verses that accompany your daily notes. So timely and appropriate and meaningful. Keep up the good work.
