Craving Scale

Craving Scale

We purchased a flat of strawberries from the Cissna Park FFA this week and today, Suzanne was making a strawberry pie to take to her dad’s tomorrow. I grabbed one from the bowl she was working out of and took a bite. Not too sweet but very juicy and the first thought that went through my mind was ‘Pretty good, but not as good as Bacon’.

There are many foods I crave and yes, bacon is probably at the top of my list. Who doesn’t like bacon? That salty, savory, smokey flavor with a little crunch and a little chew. Put it on a sandwich, next to some eggs, crumbled on a salad, potato soup, wrapped meatloaf . . . . . . I feel like Forest Gump and how many ways there are to cook shrimp.

Oh yeah, shrimp, that too is high up on my craving scale. I’m yet to find a way when someone cooks up shrimp that I don’t like. Well, I’ll take that back. I’ve had some questionable crustaceans at fast food places, but I’m not going to name names. The reason is, shrimp is best when you are along the coast where it is usually fresh. When I feel that ocean breeze on my face, I just can’t get enough of those little guys. Ahhh . . . bacon-wrapped shrimp!

There are so many other foods on my craving scale; dark chocolate, homemade gravy, babyback ribs, that list could go on for quite a while. I will say though, I can’t think of anything green that shows up on my craving scale, do you?

Our eating habits have changed quite a bit over the past couple of years, and they continue to evolve. Suzanne’s craving scale usually takes precedence over mine. After all, I’m good with anything she wants, she’s earned the right.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
