Day 39 +1
Yesterday's post, today.
It’s a rainy day here today so we decided to skip our daily stroll and opt for a drier trip, we took the shuttle this morning. Rush Hospital offers a free shuttle to anyone needing transportation within the Medical District who has an appointment at a Rush provider.
Today, although Tuesday, was a combination day for Suzanne because of Labor Day, which means you may need a scorecard to keep up. First up was her usual radiation treatment in the early morning followed up by her usual Tuesday morning appointment with the Radiation Doctor. All was good from his viewpoint and he shared that she might start to feel some throat issues by the end of the week.
Next up our normal Monday events. Well, they were supposed to be normal until the receptionist indicated that since we were ‘pre-pay’ she would owe a payment before the appointment. That’s when the wife came un-glued. As I tried to calm her down while negotiating with the staff our terms of engagement, I agreed to make another payment and figure out where the system went wrong later.
Fortunately, they called Suzanne back for her bloodwork so I could deal with the finances. This bloodwork appointment is also where they wire up her Chemo-port for the rest of the day. Once done, back to the waiting room to, well, wait for the bloodwork results. While sitting there, we laughed at how much her blood pressure will change from the early morning appointment.
Next was her standard Monday meeting (oh yea, this is Tuesday) with her Chemotherapy Doctor. As before every appointment at Rush, her blood pressure was again taken. 30 points, that’s how much higher her blood pressure was than just 1 hour earlier. This was a real-life study dealing with the effects of stress on blood pressure that I plan to publish in a medical journal someday.
So finally, we are off to ‘Infusion” registrations where after she gets checked in, Yep you guessed it, we got to wait. It actually was really busy here today as I’m guessing that Suzanne wasn’t the only one trying to catch up after the Monday holiday.
Infusion lasts 4 1/2 hours so we headed home sometime around 3pm. The rain had let up so we were able to walk, trying not to be under trees very often and the wind would make them rain on us. All in all, just another good day to be alive.
Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

It sounds like the financial roller coaster continues! Glad you can somehow handle it, although it is easier said than done.
Tell Suzanne I am sending a air hug!
Love and blessings!
