Bet on a Miracle

Bet on a Miracle

If you’re in the same age bracket as me, I’m sure you find yourself opening boxes in the attic to find out what’s inside. In your mind you’re thinking, I don’t need my kids going through all that stuff somewhere down the road.

That was me just the other day when I decided to open a mystery box. Well, it really wasn’t a mystery as I sort of knew the box was full of name badges and buttons from my college years and former life in public park administration. When I dumped the box on top of the deep freeze, one button rolled face up to the front of the pile which read “Bet on a Miracle”

At first, I was surprised as I didn’t remember ever having a button like that. Then a wave came over me remembering all the miracles that I have seen in these past few years. I grabbed the button off the freezer and immediately looked for Suzanne who of course was in her sewing studio.

I shared with her about finding this mystery button and how it just appeared right in front of me. We laughed and cried, then decided this button needed to be brought out of retirement. So now, it’s our version of ‘Elf on a shelf’. You never know where you’ll find it as It seems to move around the house on its own, but mainly in the kitchen, to remind us how fortunate we are to be together today.

Today, Suzanne is having her lung biopsy. This is to investigate a spot that over time has become concerning. Of course, we are both a little worried about what is in store for her after this procedure, but at this moment, we’re just going to have to . . . . . bet on another miracle.

He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
